99 items in this collection

A trail camera on the property, two seasons two years apart. 99 frames in all, newest first. Click any frame to view it large.

Nothing here was staged or baited. The camera sits and waits, and what walks past is what walks past. Elk and mule deer account for most of it. Bull elk appear in velvet through the summer and in hard antlers through the September rut, including a herd bull with cows and calves and two spike bulls. Mule deer bucks turn up in both velvet and hard antlers. A black bear appears twice, a wild turkey twice, and a snowshoe hare three times on spring snow. Moose turn up on two occasions, both in 2023: one animal without antlers in May, and a bull in hard antlers in October.

Every frame carries the date and time the camera recorded, and a note of what is in it. Where an animal could not be identified with confidence the note says deer or elk and leaves it there.
