Materials without a permanent home, waiting to be organized.

21 items in this collection

This collection holds photographs, documents, and materials from Jasper and the surrounding area that have not yet been assigned to a permanent exhibit. Some are historical records from the mining era and early settlement. Others are more recent photographs and archival materials waiting to be catalogued.

If you recognize any of these materials, or have context about their origins and significance, the curator would like to hear from you. Organizing these items into their proper collection depends on your knowledge of the community's history.

Openings in the RockSquared openings cut into a cliff face in the valley. They look worked rather than natural. Whether they are mine adits, storage or something else is an open question.

The Stained BanksThe Alamosa River below Jasper, with heavy orange and yellow staining through the gravel. The color has a long and contested history in this drainage.

Get told when something new goes up

The museum grows in fits and starts, whenever a box turns up or something finally gets identified. Leave your name and the curator will write when there is something new worth seeing. No more than once a month, and usually less.

What are you interested in

Your address is used for one thing, which is telling you when new material goes up. It is never sold, never shared and never handed to a mailing company. The list is a plain file on this server and the curator is the only person who reads it. Every message has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click is the end of it.
